Process

  1. Affinity Mapping: sorting what the providers need and want for the ideal mental health hub.
  2. I am explore different mental health websites.
  3. Designing and checking in with the Asian American Federation on feedback.

Overview

The Asian American Federation wants to present its investors with a scaled-up ideal version of the mental health hub.

This is building from the mental health providers’ corner. The deeper reason for the scaled-up version of the mental health AAF is to target the Asian diaspora community specifically.  There aren’t enough specific resources to tailor the translation of the community or event. Asian American Federation wanted to fill that gap and make sure there was concrete information for the Asian community to seek out since there are many traumatic events that many communities go through but never speak out about due to not wanting to look weak.

Going Back to the Research!

When working on the scaled-up mental health hub, I strive to consider the providers’ ideas for the project.

Based on the grouping from the interviews:

  • Mental Health Topics.
  • Resources related to their mental health space.
  • Importance of breaking the stigma with mental health.

The main ideas I have chosen to implement are as follows:

  • Homepage for the mental health hub
  • Debunking Mental Health
  • Glossary for mental health topics
  • Resource page
  • Assessments

I won’t go into all the pages. Just the specific pages:

Diving into the designs!

Breaking the Mental Health Stigma

In the original design for the "About Mental Health" page, there was a section discussing three aspects of mental health. However, there was only text to describe the impact of mental health.

In the updated design, I created unique icons for each mental health section to visually represent their meaning.

Mental Health Stigma section was based on one of their current website pages. For this instance, the section for the expanded website was very text-heavy.

I updated the design to make the text visually appealing, readable, and more interactive. I changed it from being text-heavy to using more sliders.

Users Understanding Their Mental Health

The original website pages for the resource pages had sections in boxes and very heavy text.

In the updated version, the resources pages have a more visual impact for users to scroll, interact, and actively learn about depression or any mental health topic.

In introspects

The project experience was exciting in the last month because, in this extended version, I explored different mental health resources across the internet to experiment with what would be helpful for their users. It was interesting to learn about the nonprofit advocating from their investor to get a hold of monetary investments to bring this project to life where it can support many Asian diasporas.
